BOSTON - It didnt take long for Munenori Kawasaki to find his way back to the Blue Jays. Kawasaki, 32, has been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo. He will take the roster spot vacated by Melky Cabrera, who has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with left knee tendinitis. In 60 games for the Blue Jays this season, Kawasaki has a slash line of .225/.337/.325. Hes hit one home run with 17 RBI and has more walks (24) than strikeouts (23). Despite lingering hamstring and knee problems Cabrera, 28, had appeared in each of Torontos 78 games this season, hitting .278/.321/.362 with three homers and 29 RBI. Kawasaki, whose effusive personality garnered him cult hero status in Toronto, was demoted to Buffalo after Tuesday nights game to make room for the return of Jose Reyes. Bastad, Sweden - Top seed David Ferrer and his third- seeded fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco were among Thursdays second-round winners at the Swedish Open. The two-time champion Ferrer cruised past Romanian veteran Victor Hanescu 6-4, 6-0, while the left-handed Verdasco handled qualifier and fellow Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-1, 7-5 on the red clay at Bastad Tennis Stadium. Verdasco was last years runner-up here to Argentine Carlos Berlocq. Ferrer was the 2007 and 2012 Bastad titlist and runner-up in 2011.
