MSTShareTweetShareShareBroncos free agent target: Inside linebacker Jamie CollinsCollins is a versatile off ball linebackerIsaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY SportsWith the NFL Combine completed, we are now looking towards free agency as the legal tampering period opens up next week. The thing is, the National Football League never slows down and today news broke that a free agent linebacker is available immediately. While Collins never lived up to his 4-year $50 million deal with Cleveland, it’s not as if he’s a bad player. In 2018 he played every game for the Browns and finished with 104 tackles, 4 sacks a forced fumble and an interception. ProfileHeight: 6’3”Weight: 250 lbsAge: 29Experience: 7th yearCollins was a second round pick by the New England Patriots in the 2013 NFL Draft. In a surprising move, Bill Belichick traded him to the Browns for a conditional third round pick midway through the 2016 season. Collins has the kind of versatile game Fangio wants from his linebackers. Why this makes senseCollins has a very versatile skillset. During his time in New England the Pats routinely used him as an interior blitzer to create pressure. He’s also been a strong coverage player over the years. As I mentioned for my GIF Horse study on Devin White, that versatility is something Fangio highly prizes. Barring a big second year jump from Josey Jewell, Collins would represent a significant upgrade next to Todd Davis. Due to a bit of a disappointing stint in Cleveland https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-von-miller-jersey , as well as his age, Collins is unlikely to cost near as much as someone like C.J. Mosely. That would leave additional cap space to find other free agent fits at cornerback, tight end, and nose tackle. Why it doesn’t make senseCollins doesn’t bring with him quite the injury history Jordan Hicks does, but has torn an MCL and had concussion concerns in the past. That combined with his age makes him a big scarier than someone like Mosley. As if the case for most ex-Patriots, he was never the same player in Cleveland that he was under Belichick. Final thoughtsI think Collin is worth consideration as a short term upgrade at the inside linebacker position. He fits what Fangio wants from his linebackers to a T and if he can stay healthy the Broncos new coach has a chance to help him recapture the level of play that made him one very best at his position to start his career. If Denver can find that player in Collins, they’d get a Mosely level player at the fraction of the cost. Broncos need to add edge rushing depth"According to reports and Ben Banogu himself, the former TCU pass rusher has a pre-draft visit/workout scheduled with the Denver Broncos.Banogu is a 6’3”. 250lb edge rusher who ran a 4.62 40-time at the NFL Scouting Combine. He has 33 3/8” arms https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-phillip-lindsay-jersey , benched 23 times at the Combine, and also had a 40 inch vertical. He played a total of three seasons at TCU and was a consistent force for them on the defensive side of the ball. During Banogu’s three-year career, he totaled 156 tackles, 45 tackles for a loss, 20 sacks, and 7 forced fumbles. This past year, he totaled 57 tackles, 18 tackles for a loss Phillip Lindsay Jersey White , 8.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. Here is what The Draft Network’s Kyle Crabbs had to say about Banogu in his scouting report on him. The Broncos need to add some pass rushing depth after losing boh Shaquil Barrett and Shane Ray this offseason. 2018 undrafted rookie Jeff Holland is really all they have currently at that position, and while he seems promising, the Broncos need more. Banogu would give the Broncos an athletic pass rusher with upside to groom behind Von Miller and Bradley Chubb. I personally would love this pick and could see Banogu going anywhere between the third and fourth rounds of the 2019 NFL Draft.
